Weapons & Damage

All weapons and personal tools in Void Pirates use the standard NOVACore Action Roll system for attacks (3d6 + modifiers vs. TN or opposed roll). Damage is rolled only on a successful hit (attacker wins opposed roll or meets/exceeds TN).

  • Damage Types & Soak:
    • Physical (projectile, melee, blades): Full Armor Value (AV) soaked.
    • Energy (laser, plasma, shock): Half AV soaked (round down, minimum 1 damage).
    • Special effects (Stun, Shock, Fire, Vorpal) apply after soak.
  • Critical Hits: Natural 18 on the base 3d6 attack roll (before modifiers) adds +1d4 extra damage (or special effect if noted).
  • Vorpal Effect: Certain vibro weapons sever a limb on natural 18 (GM discretion on which limb; target suffers –5 to related ARs until treated).
  • Shock Effect: Target rolls Health (HLTH) AR vs. TN 12 or is stunned (loses next turn).

All prices are approximate in standard gold ounces (oz gold); platinum equivalents are 4× gold price. Apply local economy modifiers (d6 roll from Economics section) when purchasing or trading.
