
Driven mechs and land assault vehicles are piloted units operated from inside a cockpit or control station. They are distinct from worn body suits (which count as personal gear and encumbrance) and Living Neuro-Core plug-in vessels (which are brain-in-jar interfaces). These units follow the core Vehicle/Mech/Ship Mechanics exactly, with no new dice or subsystems added.
All combat, damage, repairs, and operations use standard NOVACore rules:
- Combat: Opposed Action Rolls (Gunnery Intellect AR vs. Defender Piloting Agility AR).
- Damage: Weapon roll – Armor Value soak (full Physical, half Energy round down, minimum 1 damage) → HP. Critical hit (natural 18 on 3d6) +1d4 damage.
- Repairs: Mechanics Action Roll restores 2d6 × Rank HP per turn (maximum 20% total HP per round).
- HP Scaling: Base HP × minimum(crew size, Crew Rating; minimum 1).
- Crew Roles: Pilot (Agility), Gunner (Intellect), Engineer (repairs).
- Armor Value: Stacks with modules (practical max total AV 50 for heavy units).
- Radiation Shielding Rate (RSR): Applies only to mechs (see ship chart); adds +1 per level to crew Health ARs inside; breached RSR exposes crew to radiation hazards.
Mech Categorization (by Armor Value & Weapon Systems)
- Light (L): Low AV (8–15), light weapons (e.g., carbine-scale or single turret). Fast, scout/assault role.
- Medium (M): Mid AV (16–30), mixed weapons (turrets + missiles). Balanced fighter.
- Heavy (H): High AV (31+), heavy weapons (autocannons, multiple pods). Tanky, slow.
Land Vehicle Types
Land vehicles have no Radiation Shielding Rate unless added via module. Focus is on terrain capability, speed, and troop/cargo transport.
